The annual general membership meeting is open to all residents of Leawood Southwest. We would like to invite you to participate, where we will share information about our current activities and give you an opportunity to provide input for new ideas about how we can better meet the needs of our community.

Omaha NeighborFest is a day long outdoor festival that includes live music, educational workshops, demonstration projects, interactive public art, voter registration, vendors, and mini-grant project pitches. The festival will be Sunday, September 2nd from 12pm-9pm along the North 24th Street Corridor, with the intersection of 24th and Burdette Street as a center point. NeighborFest is being presented in partnership with the Omaha Economic Development Corporation, the North 24th Street Corridor Alliance, the Long School Neighborhood Association, Rabble Mill, Black Votes Matter, and Hear Nebraska, with possible partner additions in the works. We invite you to join us and please extend our invitation to your friends, family, and neighbors. 

ON STAGE

Black Votes Matter Concert for Change

Curated by local musician and activist Roger Lewis (The Good Life, Benson Soul Society, Tyrone Storm, Oquoa, Dirt House), the Black Votes Matter Concert for Change unites musicians and music fans in the call to get out the vote for change. Live Music sets the tone for a celebration and recruit attendees that do not typically participate in the neighborhood associations and community-based programming.

Ge Out The Vote Speakers

Get Out The Vote will be on site to create more awareness of upcoming election dates and register more citizens to vote.

Project Pitchers

Attendees will be invited to speak to the audience about their goals for  a community-based project and become eligible to apply for a mini-grant through ONE Omaha.

IN THE STREETS

  • Get Out the Vote, register to vote, learn about candidates, and get resources to spread the word to others to do their civic duty and VOTE!
  • Live Music! Featuring, Umoja Choir, Both, Delores Diaz and the Standby Club and many more.
  • Interactive Public Art Project
  • Demonstration projects to show what little steps you can take to make a big impact on your neighborhood’s quality of life.
  • Mini Grant Project Pitch- Give your 60 second pitch on a passion project and become eligible to apply for a mini grant.
  • Vendors showcasing community resources and emerging entrepreneurs.
  • Workshops to educate about tactical urbanism and neighborhood leadership strategies

This annual community building campaign promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie in the hopes of making your neighborhood a safer, more caring place to live.

Tuesday, August 7th | 6pm to 9pm

WHERE

The cul-de-sac located at 167th Avenue Circle 

WHAT

Join us for a fun-filled evening celebrating back-to-school and child safety! We will be handing out free back to school supplies, kids can have a blast in a giant bounce house, take your picture in our photo booth, enjoy free hot dogs and drinks and participate in our clothes and books exchange.

Everyone and their families who live in the Leawood Southwest community.
