HELPING HANDS

As part of our Helping Hands program, we identify elderly citizens and people with disabilities who need assistance with yard maintenance, but cannot afford to pay for the service. We then match the resident with a volunteer group that completes a one-time, basic (yet thorough) yard cleanup. Services usually entail raking, picking up litter, collecting limbs/twigs, trimming bushes, and removing weeds. We provide all necessary supplies, such as gloves, bags, loppers, rakes, etc. Additional activities (e.g., mowing and planting native perennials) can also be completed, but they are at the discretion of the volunteer group.

LITTER CLEANUPS

We coordinate volunteer groups and provide the necessary equipment to pick up litter in local neighborhoods and public areas throughout Omaha, such as parks, trails, and dam sites.

If your volunteer group is interested in keeping our community clean and beautiful by picking up litter, please complete our online volunteer form or call us at 402.444.7774.

YOUTH FALL CLEANUPS

Each fall, we conduct a large-scale cleanup event in which local youth groups pick up litter and recyclable items from Omaha parks, trails, and dam sites. Participants receive fun incentives and a letter of commendation from the Mayor.

This year, the event is scheduled for October 20th-22nd. Groups are only expected to participate on one of the three days. If your group is interested in signing up, please complete our online volunteer form or call us at 402.444.7774
